Wellesley delegates attend the 2018 convention

Updated: Aug 3, 2018

On Saturday, June 2nd, Wellesley Democrats served as delegates at the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention at the DCU Center in Worcester. This year’s Convention focused on nominating candidates for all state wide offices.  Delegates and alternates heard from our US Senators and state constitutional officers as well as all candidates running for state wide office. After hearing from various Democratic leaders the delegates voted to nominate individuals for state wide office. In the three contested races, those nominated were:

  • Governor- Jay Gonzalez and Bob Massie

  • Lt. Governor- Quentin Palfrey and Jimmy Tingle

  • Secretary of State- Josh Zakim and Bill Galvin

Jay Gonzalez, Quentin Palfrey, and Josh Zakim each received over 50% delegate support at the Convention, meaning that they are the “endorsed candidates” of the Democratic Party. However, all candidates received over 15% of delegate support, meaning they will all be on the September primary ballot. Please remember to vote on Tuesday, September 4th!
